Hema Endüstri A.Ş. , one of the leading engineering manufacturing companies in Turkey, supplies systems and components to automotive, agricultural and construction equipment OEMs, with additional divisions serving the mining, aviation and defence industries. The company established in 1973 is located in the Çerkezköy industrial zone in the Tekirdağ region.
Production at Hema Hidrolik Makine Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. started in 1976 and in 1998 the company name was changed to Hema Endüstri A.Ş. to reflect the breadth of the companies activities.
The company products include hydraulic pumps, commercial vehicle steering systems, hydraulic lifts and control valves, crankshafts, gears and transmissions. Initial production of high pressure gear pumps under the licence of Dowty and Plessey for agricultural applications led to the production of hydraulic lift covers and control valves for major tractor manufacturers worldwide. Hema now offer a full design and development service to tractor OEMs for these components.
In 1984 Hema extended their hydraulic activities and introduced hydraulic power steering for commercial vehicles under ZF licence. In 1993; crankshaft production for passenger car and commercial vehicles, In 1996; Hema TRW, a joint venture, now produces manual and power assisted car steering systems, In 1997; Hema Endüstri have gone on to produce automotive brake systems. In 1998; Hema began to work on transmission and other gears.
All these operations are integrated into the Çerkezköy facility.
45% of Hema turnover is exported and research and development expenditure exceeds 6% of sales revenue.
R&D has been supported by various Turkish agencies including "Turkish Development of Technology Foundation" (TTGV), "Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Association" (TÜBİTAK) and "Ministry of Technology Observation and Evaluation" (TiDEB). Turkish universities provide a consultancy service in support.
All major machining assembly and testing operations are carried out within Hema, utilising cast, forged and fabricated materials from our excellent Turkish supplier base providing quality materials controlled to QS 9000 procedures. Carburising, nitriding and induction hardening heat treatment facilities are installed within the plant and zinc coating, phosphating and e-coating process have recently been commissioned.
